The current station master Eoghan Brennan and retired signal master Charlie Finlay visited our school. Here are some accounts of that visit by the children:
A Special visit by A. G.
A few weeks ago, we had a visit from former signal master Charlie Finlay and current station master Eoghan Brennan . They told us that the train station was built in October 1865. The busiest time in the day is the morning and they normally would work for about 8-16 hours a day.
Charlie worked at Tullamore train station from 1965 until 2005. He met famous people such as Brian Cowen and Eamon De Valera!

Yesterday the current stationmaster, Eoghen Brennan and a retired signalman Charlie Finlay came to our school. We learned loads.
Trains were used for lots of things. Cattle and food were transported on trains. Charlie showed us some signals and lots more. It was really great fun. He also showed us some pictures of when he worked there. He met lots of famous people. When they left we had lots of fun talking about their stories

A Special Visit
A few weeks ago the current station master,
Eoghan Brennan and retired signal man
Charlie Finlay came to our school. We
learnt lots about Tullamore train station.
Charlie Finlay worked for about 38 and a half years.
The station was opened on 1st October 1865.
In 1984, the last train was signalled through Tullamore. The new central control system for signalling train is at Connolly station. When Charlie first started working the trains used to transport goods. Tullamore was a big goods depot in 1965.
He met many famous people such as Brian Cowen and Eaman de Valera. Charlie began working in July 1965 and retired in November 2005.The busiest times were and still are in the morning and in the evening. He hated waking up early in the morning, that’s what he hated about his job.
