There was a crash between a train and a car very near our school on Monday. Luckily noone was injured. It happened at an un manned railway crossing. We had a good chat today about how to stay safe at crossings, and especially how we should keep level crossing gates closed at all times. We know now to be sure and look carefully in both directions when crossing railway lines and not to play on the railway lines. We know that it is impossible for trains to stop quickly – they are very heavy and they travel very fast so they need time to stop. Have a look at the newspaper articles we found on this incident:
