We are 6th class from St. Marys N.S. in Athlone. Our school is situated only a two minute walk from Athlone Railway Station.
Our school was built in 1963.It was originally an all boys school while the girls attended the girls senior N.S. on Retreat Rd., which was demolished in 2003
Numbers were dropping in the town schools during the 1990s due to the expanding suburbs. There were empty classrooms in all the buildings.
Eventually in 1998 amalgamation took place. The schools came together on two campuses to form St. Mary’s N.S.
